Let's Get Started!!

ELMER_U is back in session.
The Montgomery Amateur Radio Club's (MARC) mentoring program, Elmer_U, will be discussing: getting started in HAM Radio and HF operations, on Saturday, 24 Mar., at 1:00pm. We will meet in the MARC radio station , in the Red Cross building, on Woods Crossing Rd., off Carmichael Dr.; Montgomery, AL, Topics to be discussed, but not limited to: why HF?; what do I need to get started ?; modes and frequencies; antennas; logging; operating procedures; etc.

This is also the week-end for the CQ WPX Sideband contest. This is a good opportunity to practice for Field Day. You don't need to have an Amateur license to attend.

Access to the radio room is through the first door you cone to, on the left side of the building (as you face it). Just knock loudly. There will be no access through the left or right front doors. We will also be monitoring the 146.84 repeater.

Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m.
Preparedness Fair on April 14
There will be a Preparedness Fair at the Tallassee Football Stadium in Tallassee, AL. Fire, police, and various first responder agencies will display their gear for the public to see. Elmore County ARES will be participating. KW4ZD, Randy, the EC for Elmore County, will be coordinating the amateur radio part. They will set up amateur radio stations to demonstrate communications preparedness.

AL2C station will operate on April 28
AL2C is the commemorative station for the State of Alabama bicentennial. The station will operate at Fort Toulouse Park near Wetumpka on April 28, 2018. This effort is being spearheaded by Chris Hall, K4LIA, and Randy, KW4ZD. There may be a $ 2.00 admission charge to enter the park. Details are being organized.
