We were all just like you when we started. We didn't know which way was up. But, by visiting a local Elmer, all these questions will be answreed. This is why this learning class was started. To teach, mentor new hams and help the new folks, and old timers too, who dive into this great and fun hobby. Our Elmer U class is offered about once a month. Just check our club calender for the next session!

What or who is an Elmer? An Elmer is a Ham Radio term for a mentor and/or helper, that provides advice, encouragement, and assistance to Hams. Most Hams have an Elmer at some point to help them get started and guide them on their first steps into the hobby. As a member of the Montgomery Amateur Radio Club you have tremendous resources available to assist you in the form of fellow Hams with hundreds of years of combined operating experience That are always willing and ready to assist you with the help or advise you may need.

So now you have taken the license exam and got your callsign. The study books and classes teach you the theory of radio frequency and propagation and some of the FCC rules., but you still need help in the “knowledge” of all this works together. Ask an Elmer!

Anyone wanting help with an amateur radio subject or project should contact us. we will be more than happy to find the assistance your looking for
