We are licensed amateur radio operators and trained storm spotters. When the National Weather Service issues a warning for severe weather, we fan out and observe severe weather cells. We use our radio equipment to stay in touch with the NWS and relay our observations.
RADAR beams are thousands of feet high. Only storm spotters can see wall clouds and developing tornadoes.
We conduct workshops and certification classes to train storm spotters and help radio operators understand when and how tornadoes develop.
